Summary Biography
Carole B Snyder

I have lived in, worked in and served the Berks County community for most of my life.

I am a 1963 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School and a 1969 graduate of Kutztown University. I taught English in the Governor Mifflin School District and Special Education in the Reading School District before leaving the workforce to start a family with my husband, Richard.

Once our children, Jennifer and Bill, were in school, I supplemented my education at Albright College where I majored in accounting. After a short time in public accounting, I joined the Accounting and Internal Controls group at Met-Ed; I became a CPA in 1988. During my first eight years with Met-Ed, I moved from entry level accountant to the position of Assistant Controller, and I then moved into other areas of leadership with Met-Ed, GPU and FirstEnergy, the current parent company of Met-Ed. My experience in the company encompassed Operations, Communications, Government Affairs, and Human Resources in Reading, Morristown, New Jersey and Akron, Ohio. After 25 years with the company, I recently retired from my position as Senior Vice President of FirstEnergy Corporation.

I have served on the boards of numerous corporations from the local Berks County Bank, where I served as Audit Committee Chair, to multiple domestic and foreign subsidiaries of GPU.

Throughout my years in Berks, I have been active in community work. I have been recognized for both my community service and my professional accomplishments by multiple organizations

I currently live in Cumru Township with Richard, my husband of 40 years.

I believe the County will benefit from a Treasurer who has both a solid financial background and broad experience in all aspects of business. Together with my track record of working well with diverse groups and my commitment to our community, I know I can add value to the County team.
